Pongpan Channet, affectionately known as Gig, is a composer and music educator from Phra Khanong, Bangkok. Born into a family of orchard farmers, he grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of canals, gardens, and rice fields—a stark contrast to the urban skyline that now defines the area.

With a deep-rooted passion for Thai music, Gig began his journey as a guest lecturer in Thai classical music at Phra Khanong Wittayalai School. He later became a full-time instructor in string instruments at the historic Phra Tamnak Plai Noen, under the patronage of Prince Narisara Nuwattiwong. After over a decade in education, he shifted his focus to songwriting, music production, and studio work.

Today, Gig is the founder of Impression Sound Studio—a boutique music studio dedicated to teaching songwriting, music arrangement, and sound production. His work explores the fusion of Thai musical aesthetics with global genres such as jazz, classical, and bossa nova. The result is a contemporary Thai sound that is relaxing, atmospheric, and rich in cultural texture.

In 2014, his song “One Night by the River” won First Prize in the Open Category of the UK Songwriting Contest. The track later featured in the film Khun Phan (2016), produced by Sahamongkol Film. That same year, the studio’s collaborative album “Oopiib Sings Impression”, featuring vocalist Oopiib Patcharamon, earned the Best Female Vocalist award at the Kom Chad Luek Awards.

Through Impression Sound Studio, Gig continues to inspire a new generation of Thai musicians and composers—blending tradition with innovation, and sound with soul.
